The Execution Gap
Most organizations don’t have a strategy problem.
They have a delivery problem — and a structural explanation for why fixing the strategy never seems to fix the delivery.
This publication is about that explanation. It covers why good strategies fail inside otherwise capable organizations: the leadership systems that reward the wrong behaviors, the governance structures that make accountability structurally impossible, the transformation programs that quietly fade rather than produce the change they promised, and the structural conditions that make all of it durable.
These aren’t theoretical problems. They have specific structural causes and, in most cases, specific structural solutions. The gap between what an organization decides and what it actually delivers is diagnosable and fixable — usually faster than most executives expect.
Who this is for
Executives at growing organizations who are past the startup phase and hitting friction that’s starting to feel permanent. Leaders who’ve launched the initiatives, hired the consultants, and still find themselves asking why progress is slower than it should be. Anyone who’s noticed that the explanation for why something failed is almost never “the structure wasn’t designed for this.”
What I publish
Essays once a week on Tuesdays — about execution, organizational design, decision rights, leadership accountability, and the real cost of structural friction. No frameworks for sale. No methodology to buy. A practitioner’s perspective on why organizations underperform and what actually changes it.
Who I am
I’m Kent Hallmann, founder of PrecisionPath Consulting. Thirty years working inside and around large organizations at Deloitte, KPMG, Wipro, and SAP — running large-scale outsourcing engagements, managed services transitions, and technology transformations across manufacturing, regulated industries, state and local government, and the public sector.
I’ve seen the inside of enough large programs to know that the problem is almost never the one that gets named first. It’s usually structural — and it’s usually been there longer than anyone realized.
PrecisionPath exists to diagnose that problem precisely and fix it quickly. This publication exists to make the diagnosis available to anyone willing to look honestly at how their organization actually works.
If that’s you — subscribe. It’s free.
